How to Export Google Maps Results to Google Sheets (2026)
You searched Google Maps, you can see fifty plumbers or two hundred restaurants, and you want them in a spreadsheet: name, phone, website, rating. There are three honest ways to do it.
Option 1: copy by hand
Free and fine for ten businesses. Beyond that it falls apart: Google Maps loads results as you scroll, each phone number hides behind a click, and an hour later you have forty rows and a headache. Most people start here and give up here.
Option 2: the Google Places API
The official developer route. It works and it is what serious tools are built on, but it was built for engineers: you create a Google Cloud project, attach a billing account with a credit card, generate an API key, mind the quotas, and write a script to page through results and fetch each business's details. If you are comfortable with all of that, it is a fine weekend project.
Option 3: a Sheets add-on that does it for you
This is why we built Maps2Sheets. Install the Google Sheets add-on (or use the web dashboard), type what and where, and the results land as clean rows: name, address, phone, website, rating, review count, category and a Google Maps link. No API key, no billing account, no script. The data comes from the official Google Places API under the hood, so it is the same data as option 2 without the setup.
You get free searches every day (up to 100 leads daily). When you need a whole market rather than a page of results, a full scan counts every business first: for example our scans found 1,778 restaurants in London and 1,074 plumbers in Texas. The complete export costs $1.49 to $4.49 depending on market size.
Which one should you pick?
Ten businesses: copy by hand. Building your own product: the API. A prospect list for sales, recruiting or research, without the engineering: the add-on. Try a free scan and judge the output yourself.
