How to Get a List of Every Business of a Type in a City
Sales teams, franchisors, recruiters and market researchers keep asking the same question: how many X are there in Y, and can I get them all in a spreadsheet? Here is the practical answer.
Google Maps already knows the answer
Google Maps is the most complete business directory on earth because businesses maintain their own listings: it is where their customers find them. The catch is that Maps shows you twenty results at a time and has no export button. The trick is not finding the data, it is counting and extracting it systematically.
Scan, do not scroll
A proper market scan divides the area into tiles and queries each tile, so dense city centres do not swallow the suburbs. That is how Maps2Sheets counts a market before you pay anything. Real examples from our scans: 1,257 dentists in London, 380 window cleaners in Buckinghamshire, 941 nail salons in Sydney, 1,578 restaurants in Houston. Browse more on the business lists index.
What a complete list includes
Each business row carries the name, full address, phone number where listed (93% of businesses across our delivered markets), website (66%), Google rating, review count, category and a direct Maps link, exported to Google Sheets or CSV.
What it costs
Scanning and counting are free, with sample businesses shown before any payment. The complete export is a one-off $1.49 for markets up to 250 businesses, $2.49 up to 400, and $4.49 above that. A 1,500-business market costs less than a coffee, which is deliberate: the value is in what you do with the list.
Run your first scan free: type the niche and the city, and watch the count come back in about a minute.
